Role: EIA Consultant (Mid-level and Senior Roles available)
Brown & May Marine Limited has over 35 years' experience in the provision of marine environmental consultancy services to the offshore industry across Europe.
We are currently looking for EIA Consultants to meet our increasing workload from existing and new clients in the offshore wind, subsea cables and oil and gas sector in the UK and Europe. The successful candidates will work with the EIA team on a wide range of projects and would be responsible/contribute to the delivery of commercial fisheries and fish ecology related EIA work for offshore wind farm projects and other offshore infrastructure. Candidates will be considered both for Mid-level and Senior positions depending on experience.
Both roles offer the opportunity to grow within the company and contribute to other aspects of the business, including the participation in offshore survey work and fisheries liaison duties.
The Senior role offers the opportunity to work closely with and to develop into the role of Lead EIA consultant within the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Drafting and developing written reports for clients to support consent applications.
- Client representation at meetings with stakeholders (both statutory and non-statutory bodies).
- Analysis of fish and shellfish ecology and fisheries data and information.
- Liaise with external colleagues and build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Work on multiple projects, often to challenging deadlines.
- Mentoring and training of junior staff and QA of technical inputs from others within the team (Senior role).
Essential Requirements
- BSc and/ or MSc in environmental, marine science or fisheries related subject
- Exceptional writing skills.
- Demonstrable experience in the undertaking of EIA work for major infrastructure projects, preferably in the marine environment.
- Working knowledge of EIA processes, legislation and the consenting regime of offshore wind farms and other marine infrastructure in the UK.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience for mid-level positions and 5-8 years for the senior position.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders and clients.
- Good data analysis skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and adapt to a changing workload.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of UK and European fisheries (fishing methods, fisheries management and legislation, etc)
- Knowledge of key potential impacts of offshore wind farms on commercial fisheries and fish ecology and ability to integrate information from other technical disciplines (benthic ecology, coastal processes, underwater noise, EMFs, etc).
- Previous experience providing evidence at hearings during the examination phase planning hearings or representing clients in an official capacity.
- Knowledge and/or experience using GIS software.
